Appremover ?Uninstall any antivirus programs or security applications without any risk

Appremover –Uninstall any antivirus programs or security applications without any risk

The free AppRemover utility enables the thorough uninstallation of security applications like antivirus and antispyware from your computer. Remove computer stress. Simply, cleanly and effectively.

What is AppRemover?

AppRemover is a free utility from OPSWAT that enables users to remove antivirus, antispyware and other security applications, as well as left over files remaining from incomplete uninstallations. There's no more need to mess around with your registry.

Current Release: Release 2.2.16.1

Supported OS: Windows 2000, 2003, XP (32 / 64 bit), Vista (32 / 64 bit), 2008, Windows 7 (32 / 64 bit)

Features application support for avast!, AVG, Avira, ESET, Kaspersky, McAfee, Norton, Symantec, Trend Micro and more.

Using AppRemover

AppRemove has 2 modes of operation.
1. How to Use AppRemover to Remove a Complete Security Application
The user has a security application that he or she would like to uninstall from his computer. In this scenario it's even possible that the user may have forgotten the password required to access the application's uninstaller. AppRemover can work around this potential issue.

Start the application and click "Next."

Select "Remove Security Application"

Wait until the application finishes scanning the computer and determines which security applications are installed.

Choose the application that requires uninstallation.

Wait until the uninstallation process ends.

2. How to Use AppRemover to Clean Up a Failed Uninstall
The user has uninstalled a security application and suspects that the application did not completely remove its components. In many instances this may prevent another security application from installing on the user's machine since it reports that it is not compatible with the other application.

An incomplete uninstall may also occur when a machine crashes during uninstallation, leaving the product in an unstable state where it is not functional enough to uninstall, and yet many files and OS objects are left behind. The worst part of this is that Windows' own add/remove programs mechanism does not detect that the security application is there. This usually means that the user will have to restore his or her machine to an earlier state or, in some cases, reinstall Windows.
This option should be used only in failed uninstall scenarios.

Start the application and click "Next.

Select "Clean Up a Failed Uninstall"

Wait until AppRemover™ finishes scanning the computer and determines which security applications have elements installed. In certain circumstances this analysis may take 15 minutes or more.

Choose which application to uninstall. Note that there is a percent assigned to each product. This number tells how much of the application was detected on the machine. The user should use care when choosing which application to uninstall. Since AppRemover™ will remove discrete parts of the designated software product, making an incorrect choice may corrupt the current security application that is installed on the computer.

Wait until the uninstallation process ends.

AppRemover fully supports the thorough uninstallation of hundreds of antivirus and antispyware applications.

Windows Vista Explorer Hangs while Copying Files from External Media

This problem exists in Vista SP1. The problem occurs when you copy a large file or lots of files from an external media like CD/DVD, flash drives and sometimes from network drives.
In this problem, the explorer window which is being used by the copy process hangs, also the progress dialog box hangs if you try to move it, click on it or if you click somewhere else and returns to it.

Windows_Explorer_Hangs_While_Copyin.jpg
Although the explorer window and progress dialog box hang, Windows still keeps continue copying the files and when the copy operation finishes, the explorer window and the progress dialog box become available again.
So if you are also facing this problem, use following simple steps and your problem will be solved:
1. Click on “Start button -> All Programs -> Accessories“. Right-click on “Command Prompt” and select “Run As Administrator“. If you are prompted to enter password, enter the password and continue. You can also open Command Prompt in Administrator mode by typing “cmd” in Startmenu Search box and press “Ctrl+Shift+Enter“.
2. Now provide following command:
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff
3. Restart your system and now you should not face any problem while copying files.

Repair the MBR to restore Windows 7 to your Multiboot Options.

Each time we install a version of Windows, it rewrites the MBR to call its own boot loader. If we install Windows 7 (or Windows Vista) as a second operating system on a PC where Windows XP is already installed, the Windows boot menu incorporates the options from the older boot menu. But if you install a fresh copy of Windows XP (or Windows Server 2003) on a system that is already running Windows 7, you’ll overwrite the MBR with one that doesn’t recognize the Windows 7 boot loader. To repair the damage, open a Command Prompt window in the older operating system and run the following command from the Windows 7 DVD, substituting the letter of your DVD drive for d here:

d:\boot\ bootsect.exe /nt60 all

When you restart, you should see the Windows 7 menu. To restore the menu entry for your earlier version of Windows, open an elevated Command Prompt window and type this command:

bcdedit /create {ntldr} –d "Menu description goes here"

Substitute your own description for the placeholder text, being sure to include the quotation marks. The next time you start your computer, the menus should appear as you intended.

An even easier solution is to use one of the boot-editing utilities we highlight in this section. Both VistaBootPRO and EasyBCD run on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2003 or 2008, and they can be used to switch quickly from a Windows XP–style boot loader to its Windows 7 counterpart and back again.

In this scenario, the operation fails and you receive the following error message:
=================
Title: Add Printer
Text: Connect to Printer
Windows cannot connect to printer.
Details: Operation failed with error 0x0000007e.
=================
Note: 0x0000007e/ERROR_MOD_NOT_FOUND: The specified module could not be found.

Error message when you try to install a network printer on a Windows Vista-based computer: "Windows cannot connect to the printer Operation could not be completed (error 0x0000000d)"

When you try to install a network printer on a Windows Vista-based computer, you may receive the following error message:

Windows cannot connect to the printer. Operation could not be completed (error 0x0000000d).

This issue occurs because the following registry subkey on the print server contains invalid data: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\
CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers\Version-3\<DriverName>\Previous Names

Note In this registry subkey, represents the name of the driver for the printer.

The Previous Names registry entry belongs to the REG_MULTI_SZ registry value type. The Previous Names registry entry is considered an invalid REG_MULTI_SZ registry value type if the following conditions are true:

  • The value of the Previous Names registry entry begins with a null.
  • This null is followed by some values.
  • The value of the Previous Names registry entry ends with a null.
To resolve this problem, modify the value of the Previous Names registry entry on the print server so that it contains valid data. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers\Version-3\<DriverName>
  4. On the File menu, click Export.
  5. In the File name box, type printerName, and then click Save.
  6. Right-click printerName.reg, and then click Edit.
  7. Locate the sentence which starts with the "Previous Names" string, and then replace the sentence with the following text:
    "Previous Names"=hex(7):00,00
  8. On the File menu, click Save.
  9. Exit Notepad.
  10. Right-click the file that you saved in step 7, click Merge, and then click OK.
  11. Restart the Print Spooler service. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click Starttype services.msc in the Start Search box, and then click services.msc in the Programs list.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
    2. Right-click Print Spooler, and then click Stop.
    3. Right-click Print Spooler, and then click Start.
